QUBIC Molecules Theme 2024 Workshop
TIME: 10:30am
WHEN: 21 August, 2024 - 23 August, 2024
LOCATION: University of Queensland, Morton Bay Research Facility
TIMEZONE: AEST
Merging Theory with Experiment: Possibilities at the single molecule level
This workshop is organised by the molecule theme and is open to all people associated with QUBIC.
Numbers are limited to approximately 35 participants. Attendance will be determined on a first come first serve basis, combined with how much an individual will participate and gain from the experience as determined by organisers.
Date
3 days two nights, Wed 21st to Fri 23rd August 2024. The workshop will conclude at 12:30 PM on August 23, and lunch will not be provided on last day.
Objectives
a) To establish a cross-disciplinary understanding of the possibilities, challenges and limitations associated with experimental and computational characterization of single biomolecules in solution.
b) Facilitate collaboration within QUBIC.
Description
The meeting will be structured as a series of morning, late afternoon, and evening sessions. The focus will be on cross-disciplinary exchange and providing a solid basis for understanding the work of others in order to build collaborations. In addition to developing a detailed understanding of key techniques, early career researchers will get to present and discuss their research (and ideas) with other members of the theme in a relaxed atmosphere. There will also be time for the beach and other activities.
Cost
There is a registration fee of $100 for attendees from UQ. Payment for this registration fee will be arranged internally by QUBIC. There is no registration fee for non-UQ attendees who have additional travel costs. Food and accommodation at the workshop will be covered by the research committee (molecule theme). Travel by ferry to and from the island is at the participant’s expense.
