Join Professor Warwick Bowen, QUBIC Director, as he takes you on a fascinating journey from the development of quantum mechanics to the birth of quantum technologies and their role today in transforming the life sciences.

World Quantum Day for kids and families – Hologram Workshop 14 April, UQ nodeGraphic for hologram workshop
Kids and their families are invited to come and explore the quantum properties of light at this fun, interactive workshop where you get to make your own hologram! In this activity you work together to make a 3D hologram which you will be able to take home! You will learn how the quantum properties of light allow these holograms to work through combining the concepts of interference and diffraction of light.
Registrations essential. Ages 6+.

EQUS, the Queensland Digital Health Center (QDHeC), and QUBIC are excited to bring you this seminar on World Quantum Day.
Join Dr Gavin Jones, Senior Research Scientist & Manager, Quantum Computational Sciences; IBM Technical Lead for the Quantum Working Group on Health Care and Life Sciences. This presentation will cover IBM’s quantum computing advancements, including milestones and potential industry applications. It will highlight use cases in finance, aerospace, automotive, and chemistry, focusing on recent progress and ongoing challenges.

Various quantum events to ignite your curiosity and grow your understanding of the role quantum plays in shaping our future.
Unseen Worlds – QUBIC and IMB images were projected onto the Whale Mall at Queensland Museum, for a unique glimpse into often unseen worlds.
Microscopy Activation – QUBIC and IMB researchers on Saturday 22 & Sunday 23 March 2025 were at the Unseen Worlds microscopy activation to share their science with the public who were able to view interesting specimens under the microscope and learn more about quantum and the life sciences.
